Wound Care Center
The Wound Care Center is a unique health service dedicated to caring for people with wounds that have resisted healing. Clinically, a non-healing wound is one which has not shown signs of healing in four weeks or complete healing in eight weeks. Individuals with diabetes or circulation disorders, or those who have been bedridden for extended periods of time, often suffer from non-healing wounds.
The Wound Care Center at Laurel Regional Hospital brings together a multi-specialty team of experienced doctors and nurses who combine knowledge in all areas of wound management. Together they offer comprehensive wound treatment with an overall healing rate of over 87 percent for patients who complete treatment based on outcomes measurement data.
Benefits of the Wound Care Centeršs approach to healing includes a high level of limb in severe wounds, earlier recovery, and prevention of prolonged and/or permanent disability. Patients are able to see different specialists in one setting and they do not have to make multiple appointments.
A recent survey indicated that patients rated the overall care they received at the center as excellent.
