We at Laurel Regional Hospital want you to live a long, healthy and happy life. We believe in the importance of education. We also understand that not everyone is the same, which is why we offer individualized diabetes education sessions to teach you and your family how to control diabetes.
Listed below are the services which are provided at Laurel Regional Hospital:
Sessions are conducted by a registered nurse who specializes in diabetes care. This personalized instruction is intended for those individuals with specific needs. Topics include self blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and managing complications. The cost of the session is covered by some insurance plans.
Instruction is provided by a registered dietician specially trained in diabetes education. Even though diabetes management includes modifying eating habits and monitoring calorie intake of food, our registered dieticians will teach individuals how to select foods based on preference, cultural background, and specific needs. This service is covered by some insurance plans.
The program is designed to teach individuals the basics of diabetes management. Participants learn how to control diabetes by eating healthy, keeping active, and correctly taking medication.
