Laurel Regional Hospital Services

Behavioral Health

In Laurel Regional Hospital's Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment Program, a multidisciplinary team of professionals provide expertise in the treatment of a wide variety of disorders. These range from situational, affective, and anxiety disorders to psychotic illnesses and dual diagnosis. Our voluntary/open unit operates on the model of a therapeutic community with heavy emphasis on the group process. The unit accepts patients over 16 years old.

Our comprehensive array of inpatient services includes:

Assessment and evaluation
Individual/group and family therapies
Movement and occupational therapies
Psychoeducation

Dimensions Healthcare System provides a continuum of behavioral health services at the Laurel Regional Hospital site. Theses services include: ER assessment and referral, a 24 hour crisis number, outpatient services for both mental health and addictions, and an inpatient psych/addictions/dual diagnosis service. There are also various community support groups that meet in the hospital. Additional services and renovations to existing physical space are being planned for the near future.

On the 20-bed locked voluntary inpatient unit, the cohesive interdisciplinary staff provides assesment/evaluation, medication adjustment, detox, brief treatment and discharge planning. Specialized case managers review staff work with the patient and payors to provide cost effective treatment. Patients, ranging in age from 16 to 80+ participate in an individualized, structured program designed to focus on their particular issues. The emphasis is on an assesment, stabilization, brief treatment and referral back to the community or to the next appropriate level of care. The family and/or support network of the patient is included as much as possible (if patient consent is given).

Our Hospital also offers a Partial Hospitalization Program. This program is a highly structured program providing assessment and evaluation, psychoeducation, individual, group and family therapy, and occupational therapy.

Laurel Regional Hospital also provides an Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program as a treatment alternative, so that individuals can reside at home and continue to work.

Our Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program includes a variety of counseling services, including:

Assessment and evaluation
Intensive outpatient treatment
Outpatient therapy groups
Aftercare and relapse therapy groups
MVA approved alcohol/drug DWI education
Family counseling
Individual counseling
