Maternal Child Health Unit

The birth of a child is one of life's special moments, and the staff on Laurel Regional Hospital's Maternal Child Health Unit do everything possible to make this experience memorable. For your comfort and convenience, we have created a homelike, family-centered atmosphere. Our labor-delivery-recovery (LDR) rooms are cozy, private rooms attractively decorated with comfortable furnishings. Each room allows fathers and family to be with you during labor and delivery.

It is reassuring to know that at Laurel Regional Hospital's Maternal Child Health Unit we also have:

Fetal monitoring and neonatal care systems

Caesarean delivery room

Nursery with full resuscitation and stabilization capabilities

Pediatrician with special training in newborn care on duty at all times

Nurses who have been carefully chosen for their knowledge and understanding of the childbirth process and infant care

Anesthesiologist available 24 hours daily, seven days a week

Liberal family visiting privileges

Prepared childbirth courses

Sibling classes

Infant care classes

At Laurel Regional Hospital, you get the best of both worlds-advanced technology and expert care, plus a warm, intimate environment in which to celebrate the birth of your baby. After you have your baby, you will be moved to one of our attractively furnished, private rooms where we encourage new mothers to spend as much time as they wish with their newborn infant.
