Maternal/Child Services

Our team of doctors, midwives and nurses makes sure every mom and newborn get off on the right foot.

A wonderful new place to welcome new lives.

You couldn't ask for a better place than the Hospital Center to begin a baby's new life and a woman's important new career as a mother.

The labor & delivery suites are decorated and furnished with all the comforts of home. A team of nurses and assistants is assigned to each patient to monitor progress, comfort, coach and take good care of her.

We are also set up to handle the most complicated of deliveries with two fully equipped surgical suites and anesthesiologists trained in techniques that are safe for both mother and baby. Our team of obstetricians, midwives, neonatologists and pediatricians is also available 24 hours a day to assist all our new moms and their newborns.

Not only do we offer the latest in medical technology, but we also have a specially trained staff to provide preemies and sick babies with the intensive care they need.

It's also comforting to know that the Hospital Center has the only designated (level III) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Southern Maryland. Equipped with the latest monitoring systems and a specially trained staff, this 18-bed intensive care facility cares for preemies and sick babies as small as 500 grams.

During her stay, our staff teaches each new mom the basics of feeding, bathing and diapering her newborn so she can go home with confidence in her abilities. We also recommend that new moms and dads take our parenting classes before and after birth. These cover important skills such as breastfeeding and infant CPR.
