Phyllis Wingate-Jones, CHE
President
Prince George's Hospital Center

Phyllis Wingate-Jones is the President of Prince George's Hospital Center, the flagship hospital of Dimensions Healthcare Systems (DHS). She was appointed to this position September 1998. Since her appointment she has stabilized union and medical staff relations, developed a strategic framework for signature program development, privatized a number of hospital-based physician services and improved hospital operating efficiency and productivity.

Ms. Wingate-Jones also served as a Senior Vice President of DHS from 1994 to mid 1998. In this capacity, she served as President of Affiliated Enterprises, Inc., the for-profit subsidiary of Dimensions and President of Dimensions Affiliated Physicians, Inc., a multi-site medical group practice also a wholly-owned subsidiary of DHS. She was responsible for the corporation's practice acquisitions and primary care network development strategies, growth of outpatient imaging services for the Corporation and development of Dimensions Management Services, a practice management services organization.

Her accomplishments include building from the ground up Dimensions Management Services, one of the areas first management services organizations. She has completed numerous practice acquisitions and grew Dimensions Affiliated Physicians into Prince George's County's largest primary care medical group.

Ms. Wingate-Jones joined Dimensions in 1987 as a part of the Hospital Corporation of American's (HCA) management team. Ms. Wingate-Jones was Senior Vice President/COO at Prince George's Hospital Center from 1987 to 1994. She was responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Hospital during this period. She spearheaded Master Facility Planning efforts and business development initiatives at the Hospital. A key member of this hospital's turnaround team, she initiated cost containment programs, staffing changes, productivity monitoring systems and improved budget oversight and control.

From 1982 - 1987, Ms. Wingate-Jones was Executive Director of Richmond Community Hospital, Richmond, Virginia, having been promoted from Assistant Director to Executive Director in this Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) managed facility. From 1981 to 1982, she was employed by the Virginia State Health Department, Division of Resources Development as a health planning consultant.

Ms. Wingate-Jones is a member of numerous civic and professional organizations. She presently serves on the Board of Advisors of Crestar Bank of the Greater Washington Area (1997 - present), the Board of Trustees of St. Mary's College of Maryland (1996 - present), the Legislative and Regulatory Policy Council of Maryland Hospital Association and was elected to the American Hospital Association Metro Section Governing Council in 1999. She served on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Maryland Hospital Association from 1994 - 1999. Ms. Wingate- Jones is a Diplomat of the American College of Health Care Executives and in 1993 received the Maryland Regent's Award for excellence in healthcare administration.

Ms. Wingate-Jones received a Baccalaureate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1976, and a Master of Health Administration Degree, from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1981.
