Bowie Health Center Hosts National Youth Leadership Forum On Medicine
Bowie, MD - The Bowie Health Center, a community-based emergency department and pediatric urgent care center, will host 12 students from the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine on Thursday, July 11, 2002. The Forum is an intense program offering high school juniors and seniors from across the country a stimulating exploration of the field of medicine. The program is held each summer at medical centers in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. This is the first time Bowie Health Center has been asked to sponsor the program.
According to Rick Pallia, Vice President of Bowie Health Center, "We are pleased to host the students at our Campus and hope to provide them with a valuable learning experience and an enjoyable day." Public Relations spokesperson, Janet Ward-Dyer, adds, "The agenda, among other things, includes a tour of the Surgery Center, a one-on-one discussion with an emergency room physician, and a visit from the MedStar helicopter."
Students are chosen for the National Youth Leadership Forum based on academic merit, leadership potential, and a strong interest in the field of medicine. They are selected by educators, youth organization advisors, and participating institutions.
